Job Description

Position OverviewParaco is a family-owned energy company serving customers throughout the Northeast. Based in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the Service Technician installs, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs propane systems, appliances, tanks, and related equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Experience servicing oil-fired heating equipment is a plus because Paraco also supports heating-oil customers in Rhode Island.

Key responsibilities and essential job functions for Service Technician include, but are not limited to:

Install, service, repair, and remove LP propane tanks, appliances, piping, regulators, and related equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Diagnose and troubleshoot propane systems and appliances and complete required repairs safely and efficiently.

Perform leak checks, pressure tests, safety inspections, gas-system start-ups, lockouts, re-installs, and gas odor/leak calls.

Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, and parts replacement on LP gas appliances and equipment.

When qualified and assigned, inspect, clean, diagnose, service, and repair residential and light-commercial oil-fired boilers, furnaces, burners, fuel systems, and related controls.

Respond to no-heat, insufficient-heat, and other emergency service calls.

Complete required service records, vehicle inspections, safety procedures, and documentation accurately.

Maintain a clean, safe, and properly stocked service vehicle and assigned equipment.

Communicate findings, recommendations, and completed work clearly to customers and internal teams.

Follow all company policies and applicable federal, state, local, DOT, and industry safety requirements.

Complete required CETP/PERC, operator qualification, and company training.

Provide exceptional customer service and protect customer property while representing Paraco professionally.

Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of service technician experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing equipment or mechanical systems.

CDL Class B with HazMat endorsement and valid DOT medical certification.

Safe driving record and compliance with DOT requirements.

Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.

Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Knowledge of LP gas piping, propane systems, tank installations, and appliance service.

CETP certification and propane-industry field experience preferred.

Oil-burner, heating-oil, boiler, furnace, or multi-fuel HVAC service experience preferred.

Applicable Rhode Island oil-burner or HVAC license/certification, or the ability to obtain required credentials, preferred.

Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, gas piping, and/or appliance installation and repair experience preferred.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Ability to regularly lift more than 50 lbs. and perform physical work including bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, stooping, and twisting.

Ability to work outdoors and travel throughout the assigned service area in varying weather and driving conditions.

Dependable, proactive, resourceful, and customer-focused with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and contribute to team success.
