Preventia is seeking an experienced Security Systems Service Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience installing, programming, troubleshooting, and servicing electronic security systems. This position requires a technician who is confident working independently, solving complex technical issues, and providing exceptional customer service.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in one or more of the following areas: access control, CCTV/video surveillance, residential and commercial burglar alarm systems, and/or fire alarm systems. A strong understanding of low-voltage wiring, system integration, and industry best practices is highly preferred.
Work with access control systems, CCTV/video surveillance, burglar alarm systems, and/or fire alarm systems.
Perform system start-ups, testing, commissioning, and customer training.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely and professional manner.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, system plans, and project documentation.
Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, devices, panels, readers, cameras, sensors, and related equipment.
Configure and troubleshoot network-connected security devices and systems.
Communicate professionally with customers, general contractors, project managers, and internal team members.
Maintain accurate service documentation, work order notes, and system records.
Ensure all work is completed according to company standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes.
Identify additional customer needs and communicate potential system improvements or service opportunities.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Provide support and guidance to less experienced technicians when needed.
Required Qualifications2+ years of experience in the electronic security or low-voltage industry.
Proven experience with one or more of the following:
Access ControlCCTV/Video SurveillanceResidential Burglar Alarm SystemsCommercial Burglar Alarm SystemsFire Alarm SystemsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, floor plans, and system documentation.
Knowledge of low-voltage wiring and installation practices.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Ability to lift equipment, work from ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
Experience with IP networking and PoE devices.
Manufacturer certifications or industry training.
Experience leading installations or mentoring junior technicians.
NICET certification or fire alarm experience.
Experience with system integration and multi-platform security solutions.
