Fiber TechnicianPosition Overview We are looking for motivated and dependable Fiber Technicians to join our field operations team. This position involves installing, servicing, and troubleshooting fiber-optic connections at residential and commercial locations. Technicians will work primarily in the field and will be responsible for completing installations safely, efficiently, and according to company and customer standards. This is a hands-on position suited for individuals who are comfortable working outdoors, using tools and testing equipment, solving technical problems, and interacting directly with customers. Key Responsibilities Perform FTTH (Fiber to the Home) installations at residential and commercial properties. Install, route, terminate, and troubleshoot fiber-optic cabling and related telecommunications equipment. Complete fiber drops from the network connection point to the customer premises. Perform fiber splicing and connector installation when required. Install and organize indoor and outdoor cabling while maintaining professional workmanship standards. Use fiber testing equipment to identify signal issues and verify that installations meet required specifications. Diagnose connectivity problems and complete necessary repairs or replacements. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and telecommunications installation equipment. Travel between assigned job locations using a company or approved vehicle. Follow all company, customer, and job-site safety procedures. Communicate professionally with customers, explain completed work, and answer basic questions regarding their service. Accurately document completed installations, test results, materials used, and other required job information. Coordinate with supervisors and other field technicians when additional support is required. Qualifications Previous experience with fiber-optic, telecommunications, cable, low-voltage, or similar field installation work is preferred. FTTH installation experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity with fiber splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting is an advantage. Ability to use common installation tools, including cable cutters, wire strippers, crimpers, drills, and other hand and power tools. Comfortable working outdoors and traveling between multiple job sites throughout the day. Ability to safely use ladders and work in different residential and commercial environments. Basic understanding of telecommunications networks, cabling, and low-voltage systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently while also cooperating with supervisors and other technicians. Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying equipment and performing field installation work.
