A Telecommunications Field Technician telecommunications Field Service Technician installs, repairs and maintains voice, data and video systems for a company's customers at the customer site. Prepares and documents a customer's network prior to implementing telecommunication system. Installs IP, network equipment and facilities. Acts as the first point of issue resolution, responds to field engineering issues and troubleshooting telecommunication problems. May train less experienced field technicians.
The OSP Fielder must be capable of securing the necessary field information, record verification, document preparation, data input, records posting; for all Aerial or Buried telecommunications facilities including but not limited to copper or fiber cable, poles, terminals, pedestals and hand holes. Need practical experience in previous aerial, buried and underground field note gathering for AT&T. Use of measuring wheel, Height stick, OCALC stick, Pull Finder, Range finder, etc. Experience on
FTTH, FOB, BAU, CRAN
Fielding jobs, including AT&T site surveys. They need to understand how to determine where the ROW is and know how to identify the best route for cable placement when faced with challenges. Must be able to make recommendations to Customer employees on all findings and needed changes. Must have a complete understanding of outside plant design principles, work order procedures, telephone industry standards and be in compliance with the latest revisions of any relevant Safety Codes, Electric Codes, Customer practices and procedures, local and governmental jurisdiction and be in accordance with instructions supplied by Customer. Must have functional knowledge of PC applications and OSP record with good practical experience with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Google Earth. Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies. IKE Analyzer experience a plus.
ESSENTIALS FOR THE ROLE
Must be a dependable self-starter, able to work unsupervised in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. Minimum 1-year experience on OSP fielding on fiber. Experience on
AT&T OSP
fielding activities would be an added advantage.
QUALIFICATION & ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Preferably has experience with measuring tools and a Utility or Construction background. Ability to take pictures and upload/scan pictures and forms to a specified data drive. Knowledge of telecom OSP and fielding experience. Ability to identify existing OSP by type, size, etc. Knowledge of proper safety practices. Ability to meet critical due dates. Current driver's license.
Pay:
