In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic networks, cabling, and low-voltage systems. Your expertise will ensure reliable communication services across various environments, supporting both outdoor and indoor telecommunications operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while contributing to the seamless operation of critical network systems. Responsibilities Install, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems and telecommunications cabling in accordance with industry standards and safety protocols. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks and other specialized tools to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas safely. Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to identify issues within fiber optic networks and low-voltage systems. Perform telecommunications cable splicing, network cable installation, and outside plant operations to ensure optimal connectivity. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation diagrams to accurately execute projects. Conduct telecommunications testing and troubleshooting support for network infrastructure including LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems. Adhere to the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards during all outdoor work activities involving fiber optic cables and power tools. Climb poles or structures safely using appropriate climbing techniques while maintaining compliance with safety regulations. Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs, and inspections for compliance and future reference. Skills Proven experience in field service operations related to telecommunications infrastructure installation and maintenance. Strong knowledge of fiber optic cables, fiber splicing techniques, and fiber optic network components. Proficiency with telecommunication testing equipment such as voltmeters, OTDRs (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers), and other diagnostic tools. Ability to operate heavy equipment including bucket trucks, lifts, and power tools safely and efficiently. Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting documentation. Familiarity with computer networking concepts including LAN, WAN, Ethernet, routers, switches, and telephony systems. Outdoor work experience involving climbing structures or poles is highly desirable. Excellent technical troubleshooting support skills for complex network issues within IT infrastructure environments. Strong hand tool skills for cabling, splicing, and installation tasks in diverse settings. Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards applicable to outdoor telecom operations.
