Full-Time About Our Client Our client is a commercial low-voltage and structured cabling contractor supporting construction projects with fiber optic, network, and telecommunications infrastructure installation. They work alongside general contractors and electrical teams to deliver fully operational communications systems on commercial job sites, with a focus on quality workmanship and adherence to industry safety standards. Job Description The Communications Technician I is responsible for the hands-on installation of low-voltage cabling and communications infrastructure on commercial construction sites. This role involves running and terminating cable, building out telecom closets, and supporting fire-stopping and grounding procedures to ensure code-compliant installations. The Technician I will work closely with project leads and other trades to keep installations on schedule and will be responsible for completing accurate field paperwork throughout each project. This role suits someone detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable working with hand tools in an active construction environment. Duties and Responsibilities Install work area outlets for floor (monument), modular furniture (surface mount box), and wall (box eliminator) applications Drop cable down walls using fish tape or other approved methods and route cable through modular furniture Perform pre-termination procedures, including organizing, forming, dressing, and labeling cables, and determining length and slack Suspend and support cable using cable tray, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems Build out communications closets, including mounting/installing backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, and pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations Terminate low-voltage devices Accurately and timely complete all required company paperwork, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers Adhere to and participate in all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations Complete other responsibilities as assigned Required Experience/Skills Familiarity with fire-stopping procedures and grounding practices Ability to work with cable tray, J-hooks, D-rings, and other support systems Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation habits Ability to work safely in an active construction environment Nice-to-Haves [
