JOB DESCRIPTION

The Level IV Installer performs complex telecommunications equipment installations, upgrades, testing, circuit modifications, and DC power-transition work in central-office and network environments. This role may serve as Site Crew Leader or Installer-in-Charge and provides technical direction to Level I-III Installers.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 6 years of telecommunications field installation or related experience. Two years of electronics training through technical school, trade program, military training, or equivalent experience. Advanced knowledge of telecommunications equipment, DC power systems, grounding, rack mounting, cable termination, and fiber testing. Experience leading, training, and directing less-experienced installers. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, job plans, and installation documentation. Familiarity with AT&T TP-76300/76409, Telcordia GR-1275, and Verizon IP72202. Experience using OTDRs, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and related test equipment. Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Proficiency with computers, tablets, Microsoft Office, and electronic time-tracking systems. Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, configure, integrate, and upgrade switches, routers, fiber systems, racks, frames, shelves, and DC power systems. Perform additions, removals, and modifications on live equipment and circuits. Perform software upgrades, circuit changes, battery work, and power transitions. Install, terminate, label, lace, test, and troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling. Perform power verification, equipment power-up, continuity testing, and system diagnostics. Prepare MOPs, JIMs, as-built drawings, change logs, and other project documentation. Interpret drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and installation plans. Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with safety, PPE, ESD, and customer requirements. Identify and resolve installation, material, drawing, and specification issues. Coordinate with engineers, project managers, customers, and field teams. Lead job-site activities and provide assignments, training, and technical guidance to Level I-III Installers. Maintain accurate material inventories, installation records, and testing documentation.

TRAVEL & SCHEDULE

Approximately 50%-75% travel required. Overnight travel of one to two weeks may be required, including occasional weekends. Must be available for early-morning shifts, occasional evenings, and infrequent weekend work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Ability to work on ladders, in confined spaces, and around electrical and ESD-sensitive equipment. Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, squat, crawl, push, pull, and use hand tools accurately. Ability to work onsite in central offices, construction sites, and telecommunications installation environments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no direct reports but may serve as Site Crew Leader or Installer-in-Charge and provide job-site oversight, training, and technical guidance to less-experienced installers.
