Duties Install, test, and troubleshoot telecommunications network cables, including fiber optic and copper wiring, ensuring optimal performance. Set up and configure network equipment such as Comcast routers, switches, and telephony systems to meet client specifications. Perform field service tasks including satellite dish installation, residential telecommunications setups, and service calls. Use hand tools like wire strippers, crimpers, cable cutters, and power tools to prepare and secure cabling in various environments. Conduct equipment testing using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing devices to verify system integrity. Splice fiber optic cables with precision using fiber splicing techniques to ensure high-quality connectivity. Operate company vehicles safely while traveling to job sites; perform outdoor work including climbing ladders and working at heights with proper safety measures. Maintain detailed documentation of installations, repairs, and system tests; communicate effectively with team members and clients to ensure satisfaction. Qualifications Proven experience working as a telecommunications infrastructure technician or similar field service role within the telecommunications industry. Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet cabling, low voltage wiring, and telephony systems. Hands-on experience with network installation involving Comcast routers and switches; fiber splicing skills are highly desirable. Proficiency in using hand tools such as wire strippers, wire crimpers, cable cutters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing equipment. Ability to operate ladders safely; outdoor work experience is preferred. Electrical work background or certifications are a plus; familiarity with low voltage systems is essential. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
