Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Telecommunications Technician to join our team and help build, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced telecommunications infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and repairing a variety of telecommunications systems including fiber optics, copper cabling, and network equipment. Your expertise will ensure seamless communication services for residential, commercial, and field service environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, operate company vehicles, and utilize a wide array of hand tools and electrical testing equipment to deliver reliable connectivity solutions. Responsibilities Install and configure telecommunications network cables, including fiber optic splicing and copper wiring for various applications. Set up and test networking equipment such as Cisco routers, switches, and telephony systems to ensure optimal performance. Use hand tools like wire crimpers, wire strippers, cable cutters, and power tools to complete installations accurately and efficiently. Perform field service tasks including satellite dish installation, residential telecommunications setup, and outdoor cable routing. Conduct equipment testing using tools like ohmmeters and network testers to verify signal integrity and troubleshoot issues promptly. Operate company vehicles safely while traveling to job sites; adhere to all safety protocols during outdoor work activities. Document all installation activities, test results, and service reports thoroughly for quality assurance and future reference. Experience Proven experience working as a telecommunications infrastructure technician or in a similar field service role involving network installation and maintenance. Hands-on knowledge of computer networking concepts such as Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and telecommunications network cable installation. Skilled in fiber splicing techniques with the ability to handle delicate fiber optic components with precision. Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and related networking hardware is highly desirable. Experience operating hand tools like wire strippers, crimpers, power tools, and ladder use in outdoor environments. Ability to perform electrical work related to telecommunications systems with safety awareness. Customer service experience is a plus for interacting professionally with clients during residential or commercial installations.
