TS Technician Nedia Parker Talent Group is seeking an experienced ITS Technician for a well-established transportation technology and infrastructure organization. The ITS Technician will install, integrate, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) field equipment. This includes CCTV cameras, radar/IVDS detection, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), communication cabinets, network switches, wireless/cellular equipment, and associated low-voltage and fiber systems. This is a hands-on field position supporting construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities within live roadway and public-safety environments. The ideal candidate has experience in ITS, low-voltage, fiber, traffic signals, CCTV/security, telecommunications, or a related field and is comfortable troubleshooting both physical equipment and network connectivity. Key Responsibilities ITS Installation & Integration Install, wire, and service CCTV cameras, radar/IVDS detection systems, DMS equipment, lowering devices, field cabinets, switches, encoders/decoders, power supplies, and communications hardware. Configure field switches, cellular modems, and wireless equipment according to established network architecture and IP requirements. Complete fiber and copper (Cat5/6) connections within cabinets and field enclosures. Align, aim, test, and commission cameras, radar, and other field sensors. Perform cabinet power-up, device bring-up, connectivity verification, and operational testing. Networking & Communications Configure IP addresses, VLANs, ports, and related network settings for field-device connectivity. Work with DOT/agency network teams, engineers, and vendors to integrate devices with Transportation Management Centers (TMC/TOC). Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving fiber, copper, switches, wireless equipment, modems, VLANs, routing, speed/duplex settings, and RF alignment. Verify reliable communications between field devices and centralized monitoring systems. Commissioning & Acceptance Assist with ITS device testing and acceptance alongside DOT/municipal inspectors, engineers, and TOC/NOC personnel. Support commissioning of CCTV, DMS/VMS, radar, detection, and other ITS equipment. Document device performance, connectivity, signal strength, latency, link quality, and system-integration results. Maintenance & Troubleshooting Respond to field service calls involving equipment outages, communication failures, detection issues, and damaged equipment. Diagnose system issues using laptops and applicable testing equipment, including OTDRs, fiber scopes, power meters, and network diagnostic tools. Repair or replace components such as cameras, radar heads, switches, encoders, power supplies, fuses, and PoE equipment. Assist with firmware updates, configuration changes, and device adjustments. Traffic Safety & Field Operations Follow applicable MUTCD and work-zone safety requirements. Assist with or coordinate traffic-control and lane-closure activities as required. Work safely around active traffic and from bucket trucks, aerial lifts, ladders, and elevated work areas. Maintain safe work practices and properly utilize required PPE. Documentation Maintain accurate records of device locations, cable IDs, terminations, splices, test results, and cabinet configurations. Complete daily field reports and required project documentation. Assist with as-built documentation, asset inventories, and agency turnover requirements. Qualifications 1+ years of experience in ITS, low-voltage, traffic signals, fiber, CCTV/security, telecommunications, or similar field work. Working knowledge of basic IP networking, including IP addressing, VLANs, and
L1/L2/L3
concepts. Ability to read and interpret ITS plans, wiring diagrams, risers, schematics, and network details. Experience troubleshooting low-voltage equipment using laptops and applicable testing tools. Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with project teams, contractors, inspectors, and agency personnel. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable: Fiber splicing and OTDR testing CCTV installation, aiming, focusing, and VMS/NVR integration Radar/VDS installation and commissioning Wireless, microwave, or cellular equipment SNMP monitoring and TOC/NOC integration Traffic signal or transportation infrastructure systems Preferred Certifications Certifications are preferred but not required on day one : IMSA Transportation Field Technician CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking experience FOA, ETA, or other fiber certification

MOT/Flagger certification First Aid/CPR Bucket Truck/Aerial Lift certification CDL is a plus Work Environment This position requires outdoor field work in varying weather conditions and may include work near active traffic, inside roadside cabinets, and at elevated heights.
