This is a part-time, on-call position supporting telecommunications, network, and low-voltage projects throughout the Inland Northwest. Work varies depending on client needs and may include network equipment installation, structured cabling, troubleshooting, equipment replacement, site surveys, and general field service. This is a great opportunity for someone with basic technical or mechanical experience who wants to expand their skills in telecommunications and network infrastructure. We do not expect Technician I candidates to know everything on day one. We are looking for someone who can follow instructions, troubleshoot problems, work independently, communicate professionally, and learn quickly. Duties Install, replace, and troubleshoot network and telecommunications equipment. Run, terminate, test, and label Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling. Install and service network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless access points, and related hardware. Perform site surveys and collect accurate information, photographs, measurements, and documentation. Diagnose basic network, connectivity, cabling, and hardware issues. Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, cable testers, and other field service equipment safely. Assist with low-voltage installations and telecommunications infrastructure projects. Perform equipment swaps, upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance. Follow work orders, installation instructions, technical documentation, and client requirements. Communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, project managers, and other technicians. Document completed work, test results, photos, and relevant job-site information. Requirements Basic understanding of computers, networking, cabling, electronics, construction, or related technical work. Comfortable using basic hand tools and power tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and represent Inland Telecom professionally at customer locations. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Inland Northwest, including areas such as Spokane, Colville, Sandpoint, Lewiston, and the Tri-Cities. Ability to safely lift and carry equipment and work from ladders when required. Good communication and customer-service skills. Previous telecommunications, IT, low-voltage, construction, or field-service experience is preferred but not required. Relevant certifications or technical training are a plus but are not required. Schedule This is a part-time, on-call position. Hours vary based on client demand, and there may be days when no work is available. New technicians typically receive additional opportunities as they gain experience and become familiar with our clients and procedures. Technicians generally average approximately 15-20 hours per week, but hours are not guaranteed and may vary from week to week. Travel Reliable transportation is required. Inland Telecom provides service throughout the Inland Northwest, and technicians must be willing to travel to customer locations throughout the region.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
