Marine Technician / Outboard Mechanic

Job Description

Jacobs Yachts - Bradenton, FL Full-Time Position Jacobs Yachts is looking for an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Marine Technician / Outboard Mechanic to join our growing team in Bradenton, Florida.

We are a factory-authorized dealer for Sailfish, Viaggio, Glasstream, and GSX boats , in addition to servicing a wide variety of quality pre-owned boats.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in doing the job correctly the first time and is comfortable handling everything from routine service and diagnostics to rigging, electronics installations, PDIs, and sea trials. Responsibilities Diagnose, service, and repair Yamaha, Mercury, and Suzuki outboard engines Perform routine maintenance and general mechanical repairs Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, steering, and 12V systems Rig new and used boats Install and troubleshoot marine electronics, including GPS/chartplotters, sonar, VHF, audio systems, trolling motors, batteries, chargers, and related accessories Perform Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) on new and used boats Inspect boats thoroughly and identify issues before customer delivery Launch and retrieve boats safely Conduct sea trials and on-water testing Diagnose and correct issues discovered during PDI or sea trial Perform accessory installations and upgrades Maintain a clean and organized work area Properly document completed work, findings, and needed repairs Work closely with our sales and service team to ensure boats are properly prepared for delivery Qualifications Previous professional marine technician/mechanic experience Strong working knowledge of outboard engines Experience with Yamaha, Mercury, and/or Suzuki strongly preferred Strong electrical and diagnostic skills Marine rigging and electronics installation experience PDI experience is required Must be comfortable launching, retrieving, operating, and sea-trialing boats Ability to independently diagnose problems and see repairs through to completion Strong attention to detail and workmanship Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple jobs Valid driver's license Must have your own basic hand tools Manufacturer Certifications Current Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, ABYC, NMEA, or other marine-industry certifications are a plus, but are NOT required. For the right technician who is not currently manufacturer certified, Jacobs Yachts will provide manufacturer training/certification opportunities within the first year of employment. We are looking for someone who already has a strong mechanical foundation and wants the opportunity to continue developing professionally in the marine industry.
