Full-Time We are seeking a skilled and motivated Marine Mechanic to join our Peel Properties team at the Harbour Cove Marina in Deale, MD . This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving mechanical and electrical problems, and getting out on the water to make sure every boat performs at its best. From diagnosing sterndrive and outboard engines to troubleshooting electrical, steering, and hydraulic systems, you'll play a critical role in keeping our customers safe on the water.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair sterndrive and outboard engines. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, steering, and hydraulic systems. Use marine diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical/service manuals. Perform engine maintenance, repairs, tune-ups, and system inspections. Conduct sea trials and on-water performance tests to verify repairs and ensure proper vessel operation. Perform seasonal marine service tasks, including spring commissioning, winterization, decommissioning, and related seasonal preparation. Identify potential mechanical or system issues and recommend appropriate repairs or maintenance. Document work performed, parts used, diagnostic findings, and recommended follow-up repairs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow manufacturer specifications, safety procedures, and applicable marine industry standards. Provide professional and courteous service while helping ensure customers have a safe and enjoyable boating experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience as a Marine Mechanic, Marine Technician, or similar role. Valid driver's license. Ability to confidently operate and maneuver watercraft for sea trials and testing. Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals. Strong knowledge of marine engines, mechanical systems, electrical systems, steering, and hydraulic systems. Experience using marine diagnostic tools and equipment. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical skills. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team. Ability to safely lift, handle, and work around marine equipment and components. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Preferred:
ABYC systems certification or other relevant marine industry certifications. Manufacturer-specific training or certifications. Experience working with multiple outboard and sterndrive manufacturers. Experience performing seasonal commissioning and winterization. Experience conducting on-water diagnostics and performance testing.
