Oakland Mobile Marine is hiring a full-time Marine Mechanic / Boat Technician to join our growing team in Metamora, Michigan. Marine experience is preferred, but not required . We are willing to train the right mechanic who already has a solid mechanical foundation, strong troubleshooting skills, and the desire to learn the marine industry. Responsibilities may include:
Diagnose and repair inboard, outboard, and sterndrive engine systems Perform routine maintenance and seasonal services Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems Inspect boats and identify necessary repairs Repair or replace faulty mechanical and electrical components Install and service marine accessories and equipment Use diagnostic equipment, power tools, schematics, and service information Perform water tests and operational testing when necessary Assist with boat launching, loading, and transportation Maintain accurate and organized work Keep work areas clean and safe Communicate with service staff and other technicians regarding repairs Follow company procedures and safety standards Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, takes pride in their work, and wants to continue developing as a mechanic. Preferred experience includes any of the following: Marine repair Automotive repair Truck or diesel repair Small engine repair Powersports repair Equipment or other mechanical repair
Qualifications:
Previous mechanical experience or strong mechanical knowledge Marine experience is preferred, but we will train the right candidate Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Ability to follow service manuals, diagrams, and instructions Comfortable using hand and power tools Ability to work independently and as part of a team Attention to detail and pride in workmanship Dependable and able to maintain a consistent work schedule Valid driver's license Dependable transportation Ability or willingness to learn to tow, back up, launch, and retrieve boats and trailers Must have your own basic mechanic's tools; Oakland Mobile Marine provides necessary specialty tools Marine or manufacturer certifications are preferred but not required. Applicants with applicable certifications and extensive marine experience can expect compensation toward the higher end of the advertised range. Schedule Full-time Year-round Day shift Monday through Friday Occasional/rotating Saturdays during our busy season Overtime opportunities may be available during peak season Compensation $22.00-$30.00 per hour Starting pay is based on mechanical experience, marine knowledge, certifications, and overall skill level. Experienced and certified marine technicians will be considered toward the higher end of the pay range.
