Shape the steel that shapes the sea Picture the start of your shift: you review drawings, line up your plates, prep your joints, and strike an arc that ties a vessel's structure together. As a Marine Structural Welder on our new construction and repair programs, you'll join a tight-knit crew of fitters, supervisors, and multi-trade partners to deliver strong, clean, code-compliant welds across hull structures and critical components. Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and written specifications to plan each weld sequence. Prepare joints and surfaces by grinding, cleaning, and removing damaged material prior to welding. Execute welds per approved procedures and project requirements; maintain consistency and quality. Inspect completed welds, address discontinuities, and perform touch-ups as directed. Coordinate closely with structural fitters, supervisors, and other trades to hit milestones. Adhere to shipyard safety practices, hot-work protocols, and PPE expectations at all times. What you bring Hands-on structural welding experience within a shipyard or marine construction/repair setting. Ability to read welding symbols and follow both written and verbal job instructions. Proficiency with welding equipment, grinders, and related tools—used safely and effectively. Capability to meet welding qualifications and pass applicable weld tests.
