Full Job Description Job Title:
Marine Service Technician About:
Propulsion Systems, Inc. is a repair Facility located in South Seattle. We provide Field Service Engineers & Manufacturing for Controllable Pitch Propellers, Thrusters, PTO's, Shaft Brakes, Electronic and Pneumatic Controls for marine applications.
Salary/Compensation:
$25 - $50 an hour (Dependent on experience level)
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performing routine maintenance, inspections, and testing of engines, propellers, and steering mechanisms equipment
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on marine vessels
  • Installing and servicing propulsion, electrical, and hydraulic systems on marine vessels
  • Constructing or replacing parts using technical drawings, hand tools, and power tools
  • Documenting repairs, parts used, and time spent on service jobs
  • Liaising with supervisors, vendors, and clients to coordinate service tasks

Machinist Institute Qualifications:
    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Practical experience with marine tools, equipment, and repair techniques is advantageous.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
    • Conduct inspections on marine components both in place and when removed
    • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and self-discipline
    • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
    • Physical stamina to lift heavy loads and work in varying positions for extended periods
    • Exposed to hazards/risks that require body protection (gloves, pants, steel toes, sleeves, safety glasses, hard hats, etc)
    Requirements:
    • Keeping detailed records of repair and maintenance work
    • Clear written and verbal communication skills, Patience, Eye for details
    • Willingness to work in challenging weather conditions and irregular and long hours
    • Travel to different job sites, sometimes on short notice
    • Work independently or as part of a small team
    • Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain TWIC, passport, or other security clearances
    • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations
