Job Description

Cedar Lake Sales is growing, and we're looking for a motivated Marine Technician to join our award-winning Parts & Service team. Whether you already have marine experience or have strong mechanical abilities and a willingness to learn, we'll provide the training and support you need to build a successful career. As a Marine Technician, you'll inspect, diagnose, repair, rig, and maintain a wide variety of boats and marine engines while delivering the exceptional quality and customer service that Cedar Lake Sales is known for. Ongoing training, including annual Mercury Marine University recertification, keeps our technicians at the top of their profession.
The job may include:
Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, rigging, and installations efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards. Accurately document all service work using the 3 C's (Concern, Cause, and Correction) and maintain proper time tracking. Follow approved diagnostic procedures using service manuals, technical bulletins, vendor resources, and training materials. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow shop processes and repair procedures to ensure every job is completed correctly the first time. Stay within approved repair times and communicate any delays to the Service Advisor. Identify and recommend preventative maintenance or value-added services that help customers keep their boats in peak condition. Document and communicate any additional repairs needed and obtain proper approval before beginning work. Submit complete parts requests and properly return warranty parts. Perform a thorough quality inspection on every repair before returning the boat to the customer. Clean the work area and unit throughout the repair process and notify the detail department of any concerns. Assist the Service Manager when communicating technical information or repair recommendations to customers. Return all paperwork, keys, and units to the proper location upon completion. Report damaged, worn, or unsafe tools and equipment to management. Help us achieve our goal of 100% customer satisfaction by doing the job right the first time. Participate in rotating Saturday shifts during the boating season as needed.
The ideal candidate will have:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. High school diploma or equivalent. Marine or mechanical experience preferred, but we're willing to train the right individual. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Positive attitude with a strong work ethic. Team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable interacting with customers professionally, both in person and over the phone. Basic computer skills. Ability to learn to operate a forklift and tractor. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Schedule:
Full-time (40 hours per week) Monday-Friday, First Shift Rotating Saturdays during the spring, summer, fall, and winter boating seasons.
