This position is designed for an experienced powder coater, polisher, or wheel refinishing technician who wants greater responsibility and the opportunity to help train and lead a production team. You will work directly on wheels while helping establish consistent standards for preparation, polishing, powder coating, refinishing, and final quality control. We are building a serious, high-quality operation and need someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, solves problems, and leads by example. Primary Responsibilities:
Hands-On Wheel Refinishing Perform high-quality wheel preparation, polishing, and refinishing Apply powder coating consistently and according to established specifications Properly mask, hang, coat, cure, cool, and inspect wheels Identify and correct surface defects before coating Prevent contamination, adhesion failures, color inconsistencies, orange peel, fisheyes, and other finish defects Perform finish correction and polishing when required Protect wheel surfaces, mounting areas, lug holes, center-cap areas, and related components Maintain a clean and organized preparation and coating environment Quality Control Inspect wheels throughout the refinishing process Conduct final cosmetic inspections before wheels are released Help establish clear quality-control standards Document defects and rework Help maintain a department rework rate below 5% Identify recurring quality problems and recommend corrective action Communicate structural or machining concerns to the appropriate technician or manager Team Leadership Lead by example on the production floor Help assign and coordinate refinishing work Train technicians in preparation, masking, polishing, coating, and defect prevention Provide clear and professional feedback Hold team members accountable for quality, cleanliness, and productivity Communicate job status and production problems to the operations manager and front office Help document and implement standard operating procedures Support continuous improvements in workflow and turnaround time Equipment and Process Coordination Coordinate with wheel-straightening and welding technicians before refinishing begins Coordinate with the CNC operator when a machined finish is required Verify that wheels are ready for the next production stage Help maintain powder-coating equipment, tools, supplies, and work areas Report equipment problems and material shortages promptly Required Qualifications At least three years of experience in wheel refinishing, automotive refinishing, powder coating, polishing, industrial finishing, or a closely related field Strong hands-on powder-coating, polishing, or finish-correction ability Understanding of surface preparation, masking, coating application, curing, and defect prevention Ability to recognize unacceptable cosmetic defects Strong attention to detail Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to communicate professionally with technicians and management Willingness to train others and enforce quality standards Ability to work directly in production throughout the shift Ability to work the stated schedule and Saturday rotation Preferred Experience Experience in any of the following is valuable but not required: Alloy-wheel refinishing Automotive paint Aluminum TIG welding Wheel straightening CNC wheel machining Custom or multi-color finishes Production scheduling Team-lead or supervisory responsibilities Quality-control documentation Standard operating procedures The Ideal Candidate The right candidate: Takes genuine pride in finished quality Notices defects others overlook Understands that preparation determines the final result Leads through consistent actions Accepts responsibility for mistakes Provides constructive feedback Maintains an organized work area Wants stability and long-term growth Is interested in advancing into broader production leadership This Position Is Not a Fit For Someone Who Accepts "good enough" workmanship Rushes jobs at the expense of quality Resists accountability or documented processes Is unwilling to train or help other technicians improve Has unreliable attendance Cannot communicate production problems clearly Growth Opportunity This position can develop into a broader production-foreman or wheel-repair management role based on demonstrated performance.

Our wheel-repair department currently processes approximately 80 wheels per week across retail customers, commercial accounts, showroom inventory, and OEM e-commerce orders.
