Tire Technician Houston, TX Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Regular Full-Time USAL 380101 Job Description About the Position The Tire Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, replacing, and maintaining tires on USAL tractors and carhaul trailers to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant fleet operations. This position supports the Maintenance department by reducing tire-related downtime, improving tire life, maintaining proper tire records, and assisting with preventive maintenance inspections across assigned equipment. Minimum Requirements At least 21 years of age Primary residence within 50 miles of the assigned terminal Experience with commercial truck and trailer tires preferred. Knowledge of tire mounting, dismounting, repair procedures, tread depth measurement, and air pressure standards. Ability to safely operate tire machines, impact tools, torque wrenches, jacks, lifts, and related shop equipment. Basic understanding of DOT tire requirements and commercial fleet safety standards. Ability to read unit numbers, document work performed, and complete inspection forms accurately. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify tire wear patterns or unsafe conditions. Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with mechanics, drivers, supervisors, and shop leadership. Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work in a fast-paced maintenance environment. Ability to clearly communicate and share information with co-workers and customers Clean pre-employment screening and drug test Ability to read and write English and legally able to work in the United States General / Physical Job Duties Ability to lift, roll, move, mount, and dismount heavy commercial truck and trailer tires. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, push, pull, and work around large equipment for extended periods. Ability to work in shop, yard, and outdoor conditions as needed. Ability to safely use air tools, tire equipment, and lifting devices.
