Available Help for . Key Responsibilities Inspect and assess tire condition, tread wear, sidewall damage, and punctures Install and remove tires using tire changers and manual methods Repair punctures and faulty valves; perform plug-and-patch or retread work when needed Balance wheels and perform wheel alignments to ensure smooth ride and safety Rotate tires according to manufacturer recommendations to promote even wear Set correct tire pressure and install valve stems Specialty work: studding for snow, retreading for off-road vehicles, or roadside tire changes Maintain inventory and ensure tire service equipment (balancers, changers, compressors) is in good working order Provide customer service by explaining tire options, maintenance needs, and repair recommendations Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment
Required Skills & Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or
GED Experience:
Proven work history as a tire technician or in automotive service Technical skills: Proficiency with tire changers, balancers, alignment tools, and diagnostic equipment
Knowledge:
Understanding of tire types, treads, materials, and safety standards Physical abilities: Strength to lift heavy tires, ability to stand/crouch for long periods Soft skills: Excellent communication, attention to detail, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure
Certifications:
Optional but beneficial Tire Industry Association (TIA) certification or ASE credentials
