OBJECTIVE:

This position is mostly on the road. This position is made up of 2 primary roles. Tower climbing on ITX owned and leased towers. When not climbing towers function as a wireless service technician doing site surveys for new potential customers, installing connections for new customers, and providing as needed support for those customer connections.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following: Tower Climbing Towers on our network are all within daily driving distance Climb towers to install and repair antennas and radios on towers used by ITX Run DC power lines, fiber, and ethernet cables as needed from radios to the enclosure, cabinet, or shelter at the bottom. Align new antennas and retune an existing antennas as needed Document detailed results in the

ITX CMS B.

Site Survey new subscribers When a new service is needed validate line of sight from subscriber building to a local tower(s) and/or repeater locations. This may require roof top or wall mount access, going in a man-lift to get the proper height from their roof top, some other structure such as a silo, pole, or tree. Test signal, connection quality, and speed test to validate its suitable for quality service If survey passes plan, engineer, or coordinate with the subscriber for agreement on where the proper equipment will need to be, any cable run arrangements, location of the PoE and wifi router for best coverage based on the equipment mount point, building structure and their heaviest usage areas. If survey passes to install determine any special needs like man-lift, non-pen, or 2-man Document detailed results in the

ITX OSS/BSS/CMS C.

Install new Internet services Configure all needed equipment for the install. Mount radio/antenna(s) in determined location(s). Align antenna(s) to get the best signal and quality possible Run outdoor shielded ethernet cable(s) from antenna(s) to proper indoor location Connect cables to poe for power and test proper ethernet quality and speeds Connect customer managed wifi router and test ethernet and wifi Internet speed tests Assist subscriber to ensure all their wifi devices are connected and working Document detailed results in the

ITX OSS/BSS/CMS D.

As needed support, upgrades, and repairs If subscriber service is not working properly or at all a truck roll may be necessary to diagnose and restore proper service. Often diagnoses is done from the office but can need done by the service tech onsite. Replace, realign, or repair any faulty wireless equipment, routers, or cabling Upgrade equipment as needed to improve service Document detailed results in the

Internal:

Must positively interface at all levels with ITX and REA Energy Cooperative, Inc. staff.

External:

Must maintain a positive interface with members and subscribers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or greater. Certificate in a Technology Driven Field or a Construction preferred but not required.

Experience:

1-3 years certified tower climbing experience required. Technology experience a plus. Building construction or maintenance experience preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of general tower climbing safety, building construction, and maintenance. Ability to work at heights on towers, ladders, roofs, and in 50+ ft lifts. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work well with internal staff and to effectively communicate with subscribers. Ability to work unmanaged throughout the day and be organized and well prepared. Must be team oriented and take any team role as needed.

Personal computer, software, and Internet connection Tower climbing harness and necessary safety gear and tower related tools Mobile Devices Pickup truck, man lifts Ladder and basic tools (hammer, saws, screw driver, drill, knife, crimpers)

POSITION DIMENSIONS

Number of employees directly supervised: 0 Physical Requirements Being physically in-shape would be important to function in this position adequately. At times heavy work can be required for the Tower Climber and Wireless Service Technician position. At times lifting up to 50 pounds of force can be common such as pulling or carrying equipment up towers, handling tall ladders, and lifting cinder blocks for roof mounts. At times on a tower exerting greater force be greater than 50 pounds. Job requires standing, crawling, climbing, bending, pulling, and reaching some of the time. Skills in developing plans, which at times requires "thinking out of the box". Must be able to present information to others and work under stress. Exposure to mechanical hazards, electrical, burns, confined space, high wireless RF, and operating machinery. Some exposure to odors, dust, and dirt. Proper PPE safety equipment required. Must be able to communicate with individuals. Driver's license required. Must be able to read, write and do arithmetic. Requires analyzing a situation to determine the best and safest way to get a job done for all tower, ladder, roof, and lift work.

Pay:

$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
