Operating across six states, RGPC manages four short line railroads covering 700 route miles. Job Summary New Orleans & Gulf Coast Railway is seeking an individual interested in the transportation field as a Maintenance of Way associate. This position is responsible for maintaining track infrastructure, including construction, inspection, and repair of track and other railroad properties and facilities, operating equipment used for these tasks, and in some cases maintaining that equipment. The role requires travel and work within the assigned geographic area and the ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds frequently. Responsibilities
- Construct, inspect, and repair track infrastructure.
- Maintain railroad properties and facilities.
- Operate equipment used in track maintenance tasks.
- Maintain equipment as assigned.
- Travel and work within the assigned geographic area.
- Support safe and efficient Maintenance of Way activities. Requirements
- Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Ability to speak English clearly and concisely to communicate with coworkers and supervisors.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
- Ability to effectively handle conflict situations.
- Must be able to read and comprehend regulations and instructions.
- Must possess good verbal communication skills.
- Must be capable of performing physically strenuous work on a continuous basis.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Previous Maintenance of Way work experience preferred.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds frequently.
