Responsibilities Operate heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, front loader trucks, and paving equipment to perform road repairs and construction tasks. Conduct roadway maintenance activities such as pothole patching, shoulder grading, asphalt paving, and surface repairs. Support traffic control efforts in work zones by setting up signs, cones, barriers, and directing traffic safely around construction sites. Perform routine inspections of equipment like Caterpillar machinery and power tools to ensure proper functioning; perform basic mechanical repairs when necessary. Assist with utility locating and excavation tasks using hand tools and power tools to prepare sites for construction or repair work. Follow all safety protocols in accordance with FMCSA regulations and industry standards to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and colleagues. Participate in roadway construction projects by supporting team members with manual handling of materials and heavy lifting tasks outdoors in various weather conditions. Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, dump trucks, or similar machinery within a construction or civil infrastructure setting. Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Familiarity with construction site safety procedures including traffic control for work zones and adherence to FMCSA regulations. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely over extended periods outdoors. Strong understanding of road construction processes including paving, highway maintenance, utility locating, and roadway repairs. Experience working on civil infrastructure projects with a focus on safety protocol adherence. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) required; experience operating a front loader truck or similar vehicles is highly desirable. Knowledge of welding techniques and use of hand tools or power tools is advantageous. Excellent physical stamina for outdoor work in varying weather conditions, along with good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members.
