Responsibilities Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones using standardized hand signals, signs, and flagging equipment to ensure safety for workers and the public Set up and maintain proper signage, barricades, cones, and warning devices to clearly mark work zones Communicate effectively with construction crews, drivers, and pedestrians to coordinate safe traffic flow Monitor work zone conditions continuously, adjusting traffic control measures as needed to accommodate changing site conditions Follow all safety protocols and regulations related to traffic control for work zones, including FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards Assist with basic maintenance of traffic control devices and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order Support heavy equipment operators such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks when necessary during roadway construction projects Qualifications Prior experience in traffic control or construction site roles is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling of equipment or materials safely Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dozers, loaders (front loader trucks), backhoes, graders, paving machinery, and welding is a plus Familiarity with power tools and hand tools used in construction environments Strong understanding of safety protocols related to highway maintenance and roadway construction projects Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial truck driving experience is advantageous Mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery such as Caterpillar equipment enhances your suitability for this role Join us in creating safer roads while advancing your career in a dynamic civil infrastructure environment.
