Job Description
The Minnehaha County Highway Department is hiring a Highway Maintenance Team Member to join our team. Our experienced team of over 20 skilled operators and mechanics help keep the county's roads and bridges safe and reliable all year long. As a Highway Maintenance Team Member, you will have an opportunity to learn and grow with an experienced team performing semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work. High school diploma or GED and previous related work experience. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement and must maintain a safe driving record with Minnehaha County. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process. Ability to perform heavy manual labor for an extended period of time in various weather conditions. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Knowledge of equipment, materials and tools used in routine road construction and repair work. Ability to safely and efficiently use and maintain a variety of hand tools and power tools. Knowledge of, and adherence to, safety regulations and safe work methods. Ability to respond to weather and road related emergencies including nights, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of and skill in using technology and related software systems. Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues, other agencies, and the public. Present a professional appearance and communicate with others in a respectful and approachable way.
