Job Overview Join our dynamic construction team as a Traffic Controller, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and smooth flow of traffic around active work zones and construction sites. Your energetic presence will direct vehicle and pedestrian movement, coordinate with heavy equipment operators, and uphold safety protocols to protect workers and the public. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of construction projects, contributing to essential infrastructure development while working outdoors in a fast-paced environment. Your expertise in traffic management and heavy equipment operation will help keep projects on track and safe for everyone involved. Duties Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones using hand signals, signs, and flagging devices to maintain safety and efficiency. Coordinate with heavy machinery operators such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks to facilitate smooth site operations. Monitor work zones for compliance with safety regulations, including FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards for commercial truck driving. Assist in setting up traffic control devices, barriers, cones, and signage according to project plans and safety guidelines. Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and the public to provide clear instructions and updates on traffic conditions. Conduct routine inspections of traffic control setups, report hazards or issues promptly, and adjust controls as needed during shifts. Support other construction activities such as utility locating, highway maintenance, paving, welding, or equipment operation when required. Requirements Proven experience in traffic control for work zones within civil infrastructure or road construction projects. Ability to operate power tools safely and perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting. Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards. Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions with a focus on highway maintenance or utility work. Skilled in utility locating techniques and working safely with hand tools and power tools on construction sites. Pay:
$16.00 - $24.00 per hour
