Job Description
The Amana Society Service Company is hiring Electric Line Workers! Whether you're an experienced Journeyman Line Worker or just beginning your career as an Apprentice Line Worker, we'd like to hear from you. We offer competitive pay commensurate with experience, training, and demonstrated abilities. The Amana Society Service Company is a small investor owned utility that offers electric and water service to the residents of the Amana Colonies in Iowa. The Amana Colonies are progressive communities which have limited overhead lines, mostly underground distribution and a 24MW generating plant. Job Responsibilities Maintenance and construction of underground distribution system. Maintenance and construction of overhead distribution system. Maintenance and construction of street lights. Operate service equipment as needed (service vehicles, digger/derrick, trencher, plow, chipper). Operate and perform maintenance on diesel generators
- Respond to outages and emergency calls.
- The successful candidate will need to live within 30 minutes driving distance of the ASSC Generation Facility within 6 months. Must have or be able to obtain a Class B Certification with Air brake CDL within 6 months. Training in First Aid, CPR and AED a plus. Work Environment
- This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with occasional overtime and weekends.
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
- This position primarily works outdoors, in all types of weather, and in potentially hazardous environments. Working conditions can include rough terrain, dusty or muddy conditions.
- This position is not eligible for remote work.
