Job Description

Hickman Electric Plant Board, Hickman, Ky., a municipal electric utility serving approximately 1100 customers, is now accepting applications for a journeyman or an apprentice line worker. The ideal candidate must have a high school diploma or a GED. Must have a good aptitude for Math and Science, and a certificate of completion from an approved Lineworker school or a certificate of completion from an approved apprenticeship program. Applicants must possess the required knowledge, skill and physical ability to perform all overhead and underground construction, maintenance and repair associated with an electric distribution system. Other Requirements
  • Experience with operation of bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other equipment associated with electrical distribution is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and similar software is preferred.
  • This position requires the ability to climb poles, perform work from heights, work in severe weather conditions, and the ability to with stand extended period of standing, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting (up to 60lbs).
  • Must possess a state of residence Class A CDL.
  • Occasional overtime and participation in designated training programs are necessary.
  • This position will have a residency requirement of 15 miles from the Hickman Electric warehouse.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • Criminal background check
  • Participation in our Standby-On call rotation
