Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled fiber optic Lineman and Ground Hands to join our dynamic infrastructure construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic systems that form the backbone of modern communication networks. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of reliable high-speed internet, voice, and data services to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Responsibilities Install, splice, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables in outdoor and underground environments, adhering to safety standards and industry best practices. Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, and cable pullers to facilitate installation and maintenance activities. Use diagnostic tools and telecommunications testing equipment to verify network integrity and performance. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans to accurately execute cable routing and splicing tasks. Perform telecommunications outside plant operations including cable pulling, trenching, backfilling, and aerial installation on utility poles. Conduct telecommunications network testing to ensure proper connectivity for fiber optic systems and other network infrastructure components. Follow all safety protocols outlined by the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) while working on low voltage electrical systems and fiber optic networks. Utilize hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and other technical troubleshooting support devices for installation and repair work. Climb poles or structures safely using appropriate climbing gear for aerial work or maintenance tasks. Interpret technical drawings and schematics to support network cabling projects involving LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, telephony systems, and IT infrastructure. Qualifications Proven experience in outdoor telecommunications work or construction environments with a focus on fiber optic systems installation. Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques, telecommunications cable installation, and network troubleshooting methods. Ability to operate heavy equipment including bucket trucks safely and efficiently. Familiarity with telecommunications testing equipment such as OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers) and power meters. Skilled in interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and engineering plans related to fiber optic networks. Experience with electrical safety standards including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and other diagnostic devices used in telecommunications work. Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions with a focus on safety practices. Knowledge of computer networking concepts such as LAN/WAN configurations, Ethernet cabling, telephony systems, and IT infrastructure support. Construction experience involving trenching, cabling, pole climbing, or aerial installations is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex fiber optic or electrical issues efficiently. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL certification is a plus but not required.
