Job Description

Electric Line Technician
  • Town of Drexel The Town of Drexel is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Electric Line Technician to assist with the construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town's electrical distribution and transmission systems.
This position performs skilled technical work involving overhead and underground power lines, electrical equipment, street lighting, and related infrastructure. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may require after-hours emergency response and on-call duty. The employee also assists with other public works functions as needed. Key Duties
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems
  • Set poles, anchors, cross arms, transformers, service drops, and related electrical equipment
  • Install and maintain streetlights, floodlights, and associated equipment
  • Assist with troubleshooting outages and restoring electrical service
  • Operate bucket trucks, line trucks, and other specialized equipment
  • Clear rights-of-way through tree and brush trimming activities
  • Inspect and maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles
  • Follow all electrical safety procedures and use required PPE
  • Assist other town staff with public works functions including brush collection, water and sewer maintenance, and facilities maintenance
  • Provide courteous and professional service to the public Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Training in electrical principles
  • Experience in electrical distribution, utility line work, or related field
  • Knowledge of electrical construction methods, tools, and safety
  • Ability to climb poles, work at heights, and perform physically demanding outdoor work
  • Ability to work in varied weather conditions and respond to emergency callouts
  • Valid North Carolina Class A CDL required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe The Town of Drexel serves approximately 1,800 residents and operates a full-service municipal electric system in addition to water, sewer, street, and public works services. Salary & Benefits $47,845
  • $69,211 annually dependent on qualifications with upper range being reserved for those with substantial experience and training. The expected hiring range is $52,812
  • $59,680 .
