Identifying electrical structures, testing them for potential stray voltage using a standard fluke multi-meter and high-density voltage detector. Employee will be required to read a utility strip map, drive to location, then walk the outlined coordinates of utility poles both on and off-road surveying every pole. Position requires the ability to walk approximately 3-7 miles daily. Time management skills and the ability to work independently are essential functions of this position. Upon successfully completion of training period employee will be promoted to a Level 1 Technician.Position Summary:
This position in working in the 5 boroughs in the city and Westchester identifying electrical structures, testing them for potential stray voltage using a standard fluke multi-meter and high-density voltage detector. Employee will be required to read a utility strip map, drive to location, then walk the outlined coordinates.. Position requires the ability to walk approximately 3-7 miles daily. Time management skills and the ability to work independently are essential functions of this position. Upon successfully completion of training period employee will be promoted to a Level 1 Technician.Essential Job functions:
- Visually examine manholes, pull boxes and service boxes. Some are located in / on sidewalks others are located in the road. standard fluke-multi meter and high-density voltage noting errant current, flaws in utility poles and other outlined criteria.
- Adhere to safety standards as defined by PPS's safety standards and procedures.
- Polite and Professional interactions with public.
- Adhere to PPS dress code.
Prerequisites:
Personal transportation available to and from job site. (mileage plan reimbursement) Valid Driver's License for at least one year Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements. Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Sitting or standing for prolonged period of time required. Must have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle. Complies with all safety rules and regulations set forth by PPS Pass and retain Operation Qualifications as set forth by the utility companies' standards, employment is contingent on the passing of Operator Qualifications during training If any required OQ is failed upon requalification, the employee will be responsible to schedule training and testing which will be on their own time.About Us:
