Job Description
Electric Lineman
Performs the construction of transmission, overhead distribution, underground distribution, and substation facilities.
Performs maintenance on transmission, overhead distribution, underground distribution, and substation facilities.
Utilizing equipment for the purpose of locating and repairing power failures on overhead and underground lines.
Maintaining and repairing streetlights and vapor lights.
Performing tree trimming in right of ways as directed or needed.
Investigating and troubleshooting shooting complaints and outages.
Assisting with the identification of needed system improvements and providing recommendations.
Developing a maintenance routine of infrastructure and equipment into the daily work schedule.
Ensures that only qualified personnel work on energized lines.
Maintains all required records such as operating logs and repair part inventories, maintenance logs, distributes information to internal and external personnel.
Digging of pole and anchor holes and determining that they are in accordance with specifications.
Framing of poles and removal/replacement of poles.
Stringing, sagging and tying of conductors.
Performing hot line work and determining that all personnel are constantly aware of all energized conductors while work is being performed.
Responsible for the records relating to transformers, meters, and changes or installation of special equipment.
Weekly inspection of facility generators.
Preparing and maintaining other necessary records as required, such as transformer data, oilcircuit breaker locations, and other miscellaneous data. M Operates bucket truck and digger truck.
Installs new primary and secondary electric service.
Performs required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, pavement cutting, ditch digging, line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling. Make water service connections to water mains, including line tapping and valve installation. Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans and flushes water mains, pipe, gates, and fittings on repair of mains and services and installation of service, fire hydrants and assists in shutting off broken sections of water mains.
Perform building and ground maintenance as needed, including mowing, painting, cleaning, etc.
Maintains a daily logbook to document the operational failures of equipment and systems and submits monthly activity reports detailing operational needs.
Determines the locations of water/wastewater lines from appropriate sources prior to excavation.
Responds to customer complaints by taking calls; recording complaints; and ensuring issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Maintains equipment by servicing vehicles or equipment with water, oil, gas and air; and cleaning, lubricating and maintaining tools and equipment.
Reads meters by exposing buried meters; accurately reading and recording water and electric usage; manually closing meter box lids; and pumping water out of meter boxes.
Provides customer service by answering questions; explaining how to read meters; re-reading meters if needed; notifying customers of leaks; turning water on or off; replacing or repairing meter boxes; and connecting or disconnecting meters.
Operates light equipment such as weed-eaters, mowers or similar simple mechanical equipment by operating the equipment for the purpose of maintaining lawns and shrubbery or cleaning areas.
Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, cherry pickers, bucket trucks, digger trucks, excavators, motor graders or other similar complex mechanical equipment for the purpose of digging holes, back filling with various materials, and pick up various items.
Performs installation and/or repair of water, wastewater, storm drain lines and facilities by utilizing heavy equipment to dig trenches for pipe installation, ensuring proper bedding and backfill practices are used, and practicing safety of work crew and public in construction site area.
Maintains equipment by scheduling regular maintenance, ordering new equipment, supplies, tools, cleaning equipment after use, and training other employees on proper handling.
Submit recommendations concerning equipment and supply purchases.
Repairs, constructs and maintains water/wastewater main lines.
Performs routine visual checks on equipment and listens for any unusual noises or vibrations.
On a rotation of on call twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week as scheduled.
Complies with uniform policy and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Works non-traditional hours, nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Operates flushing and rodding equipment.
Installs water meters and fire hydrant meters. Inspects meters and connections for defects, damage and unauthorized connections.
Reports leaks and other repair issues to the appropriate department. Travels to attend training and conferences.
Works overtime as required to complete assigned tasks or respond to emergencies.
Uses a variety of hand and power tools in connection with duties, operates light, motorized equipment such as pick-up trucks, flatbed trucks and dump trucks.
Makes arrangements with contractors for jobs not performed by client personnel.
Complete work orders and various other records pertaining to work activities.
May temporarily be assigned to work with other departments as needed. Assists in annual physical inventory.
Must have clear background, clear driving record, valid DL, must provide Immunization record.
Employee must be able to rotate being on call, while on call after hours/weekend they will receive $220.00 and if called out

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in electric plant maintenance and operation. Knowledge of good mechanical aptitude and proper operation of mechanical equipment. Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at the level required for successful job performance. Class B Commercial Driver's License required.Must have clear background, clear driving record, valid DL, must provide Immunization record.
Employee must be able to rotate being on call, while on call after hours/weekend they will receive $220.00 and if called out
