Job Description
Job Summary To ensure that the hotel guest rooms and building is properly maintained in proper working conditions. Assists Chief Engineer by leading the team and managing processes to meet Sonesta standards. Performs general repair and maintenance such as painting, plumbing and electrical systems. Checks electrical systems such as A/C controls, television sets, lighting systems, and makes minor repairs and replacements.

The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description. Qualifications and Skills A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support his/her competency. Minimum 2 years previous experience in general maintenance consisting of electrical, carpentry, mechanical and plumbing repairs. High school education or equivalent. Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience. Basic math skills. Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time for training and safety purposes, and when interacting with guests and associates. Strong communication skills. Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor. Individual must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule from. Sufficient knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Frequently standing up and moving about the facility. Frequently bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility. Carrying or lifting items may be required. Responds to all guest complaints in guest rooms, meeting rooms, ballrooms and exhibit areas. Preforms preventive maintenance in guest rooms. Responds to back-of-house complaints. Responds to all emergency situations such as fires, floods, and cleaning of areas after emergencies, etc. Responds to work orders or room inspection reports submitted by entire hotel. Assists engineering on major stoppages in entire building. Repair broken items such as lamps, luggage racks, bell service carts, housekeeping and food and beverage carts, furniture, pictures, portable bars, etc. Assembles desks, shelving, cabinets, etc., for back of the house personnel. Assists guests with special requests such as opening luggage when keys are lost. Responsible for Preventative Maintenance program and all related documents. Television minor adjustments, change outs and air conditioner minor adjustments. Inventories all supplies. Prices out items and places orders as needed upon approval and issuance of purchase order number. Has good communication with management on everyday projects through daily board check lists, verbal communication. Assigns daily work and projects to general maintenance personnel on all shifts, including assigns enough work to be completed throughout the weekend. Management of staff and conducts training, counseling and follow up. Assists the Director of Engineering in finding proper coverage for all shifts when needed. Assigns rooms for VIP inspections on a daily basis and rooms for rooms P.M., and record those rooms on P.M. Board. Coordinates all projects with the Director of Engineering.Job Type:
