THE BERRIEN COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM IS CURRENTLY ADVERTISING FOR THE FOLLOWING VACANCY
MAINTENANCE
TECHNICIAN 1
(Lawn & Landscaping) __ Full- time position which qualifies for benefits. Position works 235 days a year. Candidates should have experience and knowledge in general lawn & landscaping maintenance. Candidate must exhibit a strong work ethic and have a valid Georgia driver's license and safe driving record. Candidate must submit, upon hire, to a criminal background check. Candidate's background check should not prohibit him/her from employment with the school system.

JOB GOAL
To perform lawn & landscaping maintenance for all school facilities and in addition assist in the maintenance and repair of the system's facilities in order to assure efficient and effective operations.
REPORTS TO
Director of Maintenance
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred. Related experience or ability to learn general lawn & landscaping maintenance work. Experience in lawn & landscaping and general maintenance preferred. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions. Valid Georgia driver's license and good driving record. Must pass a background check for working in a facility where children are present. Physical demands - must be able to stand and walk the majority of the day, performing heavy manual labor, lift and carry twenty (20) to (30) pounds, and up to one-hundred pounds infrequently. Push or pull same amounts frequently. Job also requires frequent bending and stooping. The job requires work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
JOB DUTIES
Assists Maintenance Level
II & III
personnel in the performance of their respective duties, as needed. Assist in the performance of preventive maintenance, emergency repair, or any type of repair in a variety of craft or trade areas to include: duties related to lawn & landscaping Replace light bulbs/ballasts; Maintain and repair doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, painting, bleachers, building furnishings, and irrigation systems; Maintain and repair building gutters; Maintain, repair, and clean tools and equipment, operating with precautionary measures to prevent injury to self and others; and, Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position works 235 days.

Performance is evaluated in accordance with the personnel policy on classified evaluations. Revised May 2021
