Maintenance Technician

NOTE:

JOB TITLE AND COMPENSATION WILL DEPEND ON SKILL AND EXPERIENCE OBJECTIVE

The Plant Maintenance Technician's overall objective is to ensure that the Kewadin Plant is ready to run every day with the Food Protection Program in place

RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS A. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS 1.

Support day shift hours and operations 10 months out of the year 2. Cover night shift operations during tart cherry harvest season (2-8 weeks, typically centered on the month of July) 3. Participate in daily project planning meeting 4. Make notes of repairs or services on the maintenance check sheet to comply with the company's food safety programs 5. Train operators such as pitter operators, prep room employees and forklift drivers on topics such as, safety, and proper handling of the equipment they are employed to use 6. Maintain a neat and safe environment for employees and keep all the tools, spare parts, and lubricants necessary to the operation in a food safe location. 7. Routinely monitor operations and conduct both preventative and corrective maintenance, maintaining safety and minimizing downtime 8. Remove tools and maintenance waste promptly from processing area when work is completed

B. PRE-SEASON

Prepare machinery, plumbing systems, and building for safe and trouble-free start-up and minimal downtime Schedule fire extinguishers to be serviced yearly Conduct successful runs of all equipment and systems

C. SANITATION

Provide tools and equipment necessary for proper cleaning daily: Wash hoses, pumps, and nozzles, brooms, squeegees, shovels, etc. Identify each to its proper location and maintain all in good condition

D. BEFORE START OF SHIFT

Ensure that all machinery is properly lubricated Fill flume systems with fresh water Start pumps Observe machinery during start-up and assure its proper operation Report any food safety issues to a supervisor.

E. END OF SEASON

Supervise cleaning and winterizing of machinery, plumbing systems, and buildings Organize tools and supplies List maintenance jobs needed in off-season

REQUIRED ABILITIES

Ability to communicate to others in a professional manner and have good managerial skills Ability to read and write proficiently in English Ability to multi-task and plan accordingly Mechanical proficiency, trouble shooting skills. Light industrial electrical skills, VFD's, 230-3 phase with a high leg, electrical troubleshooting including motors, switches, controls Troubleshooting for domestic power, water, gas, and electrical appliances and machines to support the agricultural labor camp Corrected (or uncorrected) visual acuity including the ability to see distances up to and including 75 feet and peripheral vision that passes state operator license tests.
