Job Title:
Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots and maintains mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems within a large packaging and distribution facility. This role focuses on operating, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on production equipment, while supporting production teams and using computer-based maintenance tools and robotics. Responsibilities Operate, repair, and perform general maintenance on equipment in the assigned area to ensure reliable and efficient operation. Complete all assigned preventive maintenance tasks accurately and on schedule to minimize unplanned downtime. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production machinery. Respond promptly to machine breakdowns and complete repairs in a timely manner to support production targets. Assist and train production personnel on basic equipment operation and maintenance best practices. Collaborate closely with production teams to support day-to-day operational needs and resolve equipment-related issues. Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document work orders, maintenance activities, and parts usage. Work with computers and robotic equipment as part of the maintenance and troubleshooting process. Apply knowledge of 480V electrical systems when performing maintenance and repairs, following all safety procedures. Utilize basic PLC knowledge for limited troubleshooting, while not performing any programming. Use Microsoft Excel and Word to maintain records, reports, and maintenance documentation. Work with Maintenance Connections or similar maintenance software to track and manage maintenance tasks. Essential Skills Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Hands-on experience with 480V electrical systems in an industrial or similar environment. Ability to work with computers and robotic equipment in a maintenance setting. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance work. Proficiency with basic Microsoft tools, including Excel and Word, for documentation and reporting. Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime. Ability to read, understand, and follow maintenance instructions and safety procedures. High School Diploma or GED. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical degree or trade school certification (such as TCAT or similar trades program) is preferred. Previous experience using Maintenance Connections software or comparable CMMS platforms. Robotics experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Basic exposure to PLC systems, with the ability to perform limited troubleshooting (no programming required). Experience working in a maintenance role within a packaging, distribution, or manufacturing facility. Strong communication skills to effectively assist and train production personnel. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a large packaging and distribution facility with approximately 600 employees, increasing to around 1,000 during the peak season from October through December. The facility is expansive and not temperature controlled, so it can become hot during the summer months. The work involves being on the floor around production equipment and machinery, using tools, computers, CMMS software, and robotic systems. The position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, working the 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Vergne, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
