This role focuses on coordinating engineering and production activities related to complex aerospace components, ensuring parts are manufactured efficiently, meet strict quality standards, and comply with aerospace regulatory requirements. The Project Engineer serves as the technical interface between engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to support new product introduction (NPI), process improvements, and production readiness. The ideal candidate will possess SolidWorks CAD experience and practical CAM programming knowledge to support manufacturing process development, fixture design, and machining optimization for complex aerospace components. Key Responsibilities Precision Machining Support Provide technical support for CNC machining operations, including milling, turning, and multi-axis machining of aerospace materials. Collaborate with machinists and operators to optimize machining processes, tooling strategies, and cycle times. Support troubleshooting of machining issues such as dimensional deviations, tool wear, and process instability. CAD Design & Engineering Support Utilize SolidWorks to review and modify part models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings. Design and develop fixtures, workholding, tooling concepts, and machining aids. Support engineering changes by updating CAD models and associated documentation.
CAM & CNC
Programming Support Work with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, CamWorks, NX CAM, or similar) to develop or review CNC tool paths. Support optimization of multi-axis CNC machining processes including milling and turning operations. Assist in improving machining strategies to reduce cycle times and improve tool life. Collaborate with CNC programmers and machinists to troubleshoot machining issues and improve process reliability. New Product Introduction (NPI) Coordinate the transition of new aerospace components from engineering design to production. Support development of manufacturing plans, work instructions, and process documentation. Quality and Compliance Ensure machining processes meet aerospace quality standards including AS9100 and customer specifications. Support root cause investigations and corrective actions related to manufacturing nonconformances. Collaborate with quality teams during audits and certification activities. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve machining efficiency, reduce scrap, and increase throughput. Support implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Monitor manufacturing performance metrics and recommend improvements. Qualifications 2 years' experience in an aerospace manufacturing or machining environment. Strong understanding of precision machining processes, including CNC milling and turning. Experience with tight-tolerance aerospace components and complex geometries. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD& T, and technical specifications. Strong project coordination and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of aerospace materials such as titanium, lnconel, and stainless steel
