Job description:
  • to be able to read a technical drawing
  • familiarity with measurements in metres, centimeters, millimetres
  • Sets up and operates variety of woodworking machines and uses various hand tools to fabricate and repair wooden elements and high-grade furniture
  • Construct and assemble components, making sure that all pieces fit the dimensions specified by the foreman and client
  • Match materials and grains to create a uniform appearance for all the matching units
  • Verify and double check all calculations to ensure alignment of doors, hinges and side panels, always using blueprints or design plans for reference
  • Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine
  • Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps or clamping machine
  • Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing
  • May dip, brush, or spray assembled articles with protective or decorative materials, such as stain, varnish, or paint
  • Clean and repair all equipment necessary for work, including handsaws, table saws, skill saws, and a variety of drills and sanding tools
  • Be exact in measurements and markings so that materials will be used efficiently, and the projects will meet budgetary restrictions
  • Install the appropriate hardware, such as hinges and handles, and order replacement materials when needed
  • Reinforce joints and attachments to maximize sturdiness and durability without compromising aesthetic appeal or functionality
  • Maintain a safe working environment by cleaning and disposing of old materials, such as nails and screws
  • Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information and optimal solutions for the construction of furniture
  • Guarantees the construction of an excellent furniture with attention to detail respecting the project information or dialoguing with the tecnical department for the best construction solution
