POSITION SUMMARY
The 1220 Exhibits Scenic Artist will work with a talented team of artists, craftspeople, installers and fabricators for various venues including museums, retail establishments, corporate projects, and trade shows.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Able to prepare various surfaces (wood, metal, fiberglass, etc.) for painting. 2. Create all scenic treatments as needed for both interior and exterior projects. 3. Sculpting and carving. 4. Assure quality workmanship consistent with project requirements. 5. Interpret design renderings. 6. Maintain a clean and safe workspace. 7. Ability and willingness to work with a team. 8. Assist in maintaining all scenic records. 9. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED 2-3
years' experience in an event fabrication facility, theatrical scene shop or equivalent. Management preferred but not required. Working knowledge of different paints (latex, acrylic, oil, lacquer, varnishes, shellacs, etc.) and resins (epoxies, urethanes, silicones, etc.). Ability to work with variety of tools (rollers, brushes, sponges, etc.) to create a scenic finish. Knowledgeable in sculpting various materials (foam, concrete, clay, fabric). Have Basic carpentry skills and able to safely use standard shop power tools. Work from designer drawings and renderings as well as from reference material. Must be able to travel occasionally to help with scenic installations. Professional conduct with co-workers, supervisors, and all other team members. Available to work overtime and weekends, as required during project deadlines.
