Job Description

Gaston & Wyatt creates one-of-a-kind architectural millwork for luxury residential and other high-end projects across the country. In our 65,000-square-foot Charlottesville facility, experienced craftspeople combine traditional woodworking knowledge with modern equipment, engineering, and technology. As a Woodworker / Cabinet Maker, you will take ownership of complex work while continuing to develop your craft through documented career pathways. You will work with team members who value humility, thoughtful communication, problem-solving, and the reputation built through every finished product. What You'll Do Read architectural and shop drawings, develop cut lists, and determine appropriate materials, construction methods, and sequencing. Produce complex interior and exterior architectural millwork involving solid lumber, panels, veneers, doors, casework, and curved or radius components. Set up and safely operate shapers, saws, mortising equipment, presses, clamps, and other woodworking machinery. Execute traditional and modern joinery, including mortise and tenon, dovetail, French miter, lock miter, dowels, and vacuum pressing. Carry projects through completion while protecting quality, meeting schedule expectations, solving challenges, and setting downstream team members up for success. What We're Looking For Required At least five years of experience in architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, casework, or fine-furniture construction. Advanced ability to read and work accurately from architectural and shop drawings. Strong knowledge of joinery, shaper setup, curved work, veneer work, and cabinet construction. Dependability, careful communication, sound judgment, and a commitment to premium-quality work. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds and perform work involving bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing. Preferred Experience producing luxury custom architectural millwork and cabinets Advanced veneer matching, radius work, door construction, or complex solid-wood fabrication experience. Experience sharing knowledge, mentoring developing craftspeople, or helping a team solve difficult production challenges.
