We are hiring experienced Sterile Processing Technicians (SPT) for Surgical Services / Central Sterile departments supporting acute-care hospital Operating Rooms in La Plata, Baltimore, and Largo, Maryland . This is an excellent opportunity for experienced sterile processing professionals with strong instrument processing, decontamination, sterilization, tray assembly, case cart, and OR experience .

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform complete sterile processing and surgical instrument reprocessing . Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments. Assemble and organize surgical trays, instrument sets, and case carts according to preference cards and department standards. Follow proper aseptic and sterile technique throughout the processing workflow. Operate and monitor Steris autoclaves, Sterrad systems, washers, and ultrasonic cleaners . Perform and document biological and chemical indicator testing and sterilization monitoring. Perform endoscope, scope, and probe reprocessing and high-level disinfection as required. Process instruments and equipment used across multiple surgical specialties. Properly label, wrap, document, and prepare sterile supplies and instrumentation for the Operating Room. Maintain accurate equipment and sterilization documentation. Follow infection prevention, safety, quality, and hospital sterile-processing standards. Float within the department/specialty as needed.

SURGICAL SPECIALTIES

Experience with one or more of the following is valuable: General Surgery | Cardiac | Orthopedics | ENT | OB/GYN | Urology | Vascular | Plastics | Podiatry | Neurology | Bariatrics | Dental | Laparoscopic Surgery

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

2+ years of recent Sterile Processing Technician / Central Sterile experience IAHCSMM or HSPA certification required Travel experience required Strong acute-care hospital / Operating Room experience Lead Sterile Processing experience required Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, instrument processing, decontamination, sterilization, and tray assembly Experience with case carts, surgical trays, Steris, Sterrad, autoclaves, washers, and ultrasonic cleaners Knowledge of biological/chemical indicators and sterilization monitoring Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced Surgical Services environment First-time travelers may be considered if they have strong sterile-processing skills and 2+ years of relevant experience; subject to manager review.

SCHEDULE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Day Shift:

12:00 PM-8:30 PM 5x8-hour shifts 16-week contract

Tentative Start Date:

10/05/2026 On-call required Every other weekend may include 7:00 AM-7:00 PM on-call Holidays as scheduled Floating within specialty/department as needed Acute Hospital OR / Surgical Services environment Flu vaccination required; no exemptions COVID vaccination not required
