Job Summary

OverviewThe Materials & Process (M&P) Technician is an advanced technical contributor responsible for executing, developing, and optimizing materials and process testing in support of aircraft structures, product development, and production. This role operates with a high degree of independence to deliver accurate, repeatable data, improve test methodologies, and resolve technical challenges. The Technician partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure materials and processes meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements, and contributes directly to engineering decision-making and certification efforts through analysis and interpretation of results.



Responsibilities

Execute and develop materials and process test methods, including chemical, mechanical, physical, and nondestructive testing, to validate aerospace structures and materials (e.g., Static and Dynamic Mechanical Testing Systems, DSC, DMA, Microscopy)

Build, instrument, inspect, test, and analyze composite and metallic structures in accordance with engineering requirements and specifications

Record and report test results using specialized software (e.g., Instron Bluehill, MTS TestSuite, TA TRIOS).

Analyze and interpret test data to support engineering decisions, including design validation, troubleshooting, and process improvement

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and NDT equipment to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with applicable standards

Develop and refine test setups, fixtures, and methodologies to improve efficiency, capability, and data quality

Support failure analysis and root cause investigations, identifying material and process-related issues and recommending corrective actions

Generate clear and accurate technical documentation including test reports, procedures, and data summaries (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, or similar tools)

Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support product development, certification, and production needs

Mentor and train technicians and inspectors in test methods, equipment usage, and best practices

Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to improve lab throughput, process efficiency, and cost performance

Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures

Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Composites Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

5+ years of relevant experience in materials testing, aerospace manufacturing, or laboratory environment (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP, QMS)

NDT certification

UT/VT/ST

preferred (e.g., NAS 410 or

ASNT SNT-TC-1A

)

Direct experience with composite materials, fabrication, structural bonding, and testing

Demonstrated experience working with engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures (e.g., ASTM, ISO, SACMA, MIL-SPEC)

Proven ability to analyze data and communicate technical results effectively

Perform physical requirements of the position, including use of tools, equipment, lifting 50 lbs., pass eye examination

Pay RangeSalary Range:

USD $30.93/Hr. - USD $46.39/Hr.
