Automation Processing Coordinator Location:

Mon-Fri 9pm-5:30am w/ rotating weekends and holidays Job Summary The Automation Processing Coordinator supports laboratory automation and specimen processing operations by providing staff training, troubleshooting automation systems, monitoring performance, maintaining procedures, and identifying opportunities for process improvement. This role serves as a key resource for automation-related issues and works closely with technical service personnel to minimize equipment downtime. Responsibilities

Provide training and ongoing support to staff in automation and specimen processing areas.

Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control processes.

Maintain thorough knowledge of laboratory automation systems and independently identify and resolve operational issues.

Monitor automation performance and prepare reports related to specimen processing.

Investigate error trends, test code builds and updates, tube labeling compliance, and other processing issues.

Identify and implement workflow and process improvements to increase automation efficiency.

Serve as the primary liaison with service technicians during equipment maintenance, servicing, and repairs.

Troubleshoot laboratory automation and processing equipment as needed.

Perform and document required maintenance, function checks, and quality control activities.

Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.

Follow established policies regarding patient confidentiality and protected health information (PHI).

Work collaboratively with laboratory staff, physicians, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications / Requirements

Registered Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT(ASCP), OR bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, or physical science required.

Approximately 5 years of experience in an IT or clinical environment, including experience with moderate-to-complex business processes.

Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, business/user requirements, acceptance testing, and documentation.

Strong understanding of laboratory automation and specimen processing workflows preferred.

Ability to troubleshoot automation equipment and identify operational or workflow issues with minimal supervision.

Experience developing or maintaining SOPs, quality control procedures, and technical documentation.

Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Comfortable working around biohazardous materials and chemical, mechanical, and other laboratory hazards.

Ability to lift approximately 20-50 pounds and perform physical activities including reaching and stooping.
