Yorba Linda, CA Job Summary The CNC Set-Up Technician is responsible for performing set-ups on CNC mills and lathes, ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficiency in machining operations. This role provides technical support and training to CNC operators and assists with programming and offset adjustments to meet production and quality standards. Key Responsibilities1. CNC Set-Ups & Operation Perform set-ups on CNC mills and lathes to ensure accurate and efficient production. Execute basic programming of CNC machines and perform necessary offsets. Select, install, and align appropriate tooling and fixtures for jobs. Conduct trial runs and first-article inspections to confirm set-up accuracy. Assist the CNC Supervisor with daily responsibilities related to CNC operations. 2. Quality & Process Compliance Follow production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. Verify results and confirm machining accuracy to meet specifications. Identify opportunities for work process improvements to enhance efficiency. Monitor machines during initial production runs to ensure consistent quality. 3. Documentation & Standards Confirm and maintain accurate documentation of set-ups and machining processes. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for CNC operations. Maintain records of tools, offsets, and set-up sheets for repeatability. 4. Training & Support Provide training to CNC Operators on set-ups performed. Support operators with technical questions and troubleshooting during production. Mentor junior team members in safe and effective CNC practices. 5. Machine Maintenance & Safety Perform routine checks to ensure machines are clean, lubricated, and operating properly. Report mechanical or process issues to maintenance or supervision promptly. Maintain a safe work area by following safety protocols and wearing proper PPE. 6. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and quality inspectors to resolve machining or set-up issues. Communicate effectively with the production team to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery. 7. Additional Duties Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business needs. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of CNC set-up experience with mills and lathes. Knowledge of CNC programming and offset adjustments. Strong knowledge of machine tooling, fixtures, and set-up procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, etc. Familiarity with first-article inspections and quality verification processes. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Understanding of safety protocols and proper use of PPE in a machine environment. Willingness to train and mentor CNC operators.
