We have been in business for more than 30 years, and many of our employees have been with us for 20 years or longer. We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Mill Machinist with strong vertical and horizontal mill setup and operating experience. Vertical machining will be the primary focus of this position. This is not a machine-operator or button-pusher position. We are looking for a true machinist who can independently take a job from print to finished part, determine how to hold and machine it, make the necessary tooling and fixtures, troubleshoot problems, and produce accurate parts without requiring someone else to plan every step. Responsibilities Independently set up and operate CNC vertical and horizontal mills in an aerospace manufacturing environment. Make your own tooling, fixtures, jaws, stops, soft jaws, and other workholding as required to complete a job. Determine proper workholding and setup methods for prototype and low-volume parts. Select appropriate cutting tools for the material and application. Calculate and adjust speeds and feeds as required. Set work offsets, tool offsets, and make necessary machine adjustments. Make program edits at the machine when required. Read and interpret complex aerospace drawings and specifications. Understand and apply GD&T. Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using standard precision measuring equipment. Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, workholding, chatter, finish, and other machining problems. Deburr parts and perform other productive work while machines are running when appropriate. Communicate effectively with inspectors, programmers, management, and other machinists throughout the shop. Maintain a clean and organized work area and take responsibility for the quality of your own work. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of CNC Mill setup and operating experience in an aerospace or similar close-tolerance machine shop environment. Strong vertical mill experience required. Horizontal mill experience is a plus. Must be capable of performing complete setups independently. Must be capable of making your own tooling and workholding when required. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings. Strong working knowledge of GD&T. Must understand cutting tools, speeds, feeds, tool wear, and machining principles. Must be comfortable machining a variety of aerospace materials, including aluminum and stainless steels. Experience with Centroid, Fadal, and Fanuc-type controls is a plus. Experience working in an AS9100-certified environment is a plus. Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays when required. Most weeks range approximately 44 to 52 hours . What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who considers themselves a machinist , not simply a CNC operator. A qualified candidate should be comfortable being handed a drawing and taking responsibility for getting the part made correctly. You should be able to determine how to hold the part, make the necessary tooling or fixtures, perform the setup, make adjustments as required, inspect your own work, and solve normal machining problems without waiting for someone else to tell you what to do.
