Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a CNC Set Up Operator and become a vital part of precision metal machining! In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce high-quality components. Your expertise in machine setup, tooling, and programming will ensure efficient production processes and top-tier product quality. We are looking for motivated individuals eager to work in a fast-paced environment that values craftsmanship, safety, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to determine machining requirements. Program CNC machines using G-code and M-code languages, including Mazatrol controls, to set up precise machining operations. Prepare and install tooling, fixtures, and cutting tools on CNC lathes and milling machines to ensure optimal performance. Perform machine setup procedures, including calibration with precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Conduct manual machining tasks when necessary to support production or troubleshoot issues during CNC operations. Monitor machine operations during production runs to maintain quality standards; perform quality inspections using measurement tools and visual checks. Troubleshoot machine issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling wear, or programming errors; make adjustments as needed for continuous improvement. Maintain detailed records of setups, adjustments, inspections, and production data to ensure traceability and compliance with quality standards. Skills Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with Mazatrol control systems is highly desirable. Strong understanding of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and SolidWorks for interpreting design files; ability to convert designs into machine instructions. Knowledge of CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software for creating efficient machining programs. Skilled in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T). Experience operating various machining tools including grinders, lathes, mills, hand tools, power tools, and tooling fixtures. Mechanical knowledge related to metalworking processes such as milling, turning on CNC lathe machines, grinding, and manual machining techniques. Ability to use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges for quality control purposes. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to optimize setup times and improve workflow efficiency. Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, speeds, and other machining parameters. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately while adhering to safety standards in a manufacturing environment. Embark on a career where your technical skills drive precision manufacturing excellence! We're committed to providing a safe workspace that fosters growth while offering opportunities to develop your expertise in CNC machining technology.
