Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of one of our valued manufacturing clients for an experienced CNC Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) Operator . This position is responsible for operating CNC Vertical Turning Lathes while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and experienced in operating CNC turning equipment within a precision manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Operate CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) safely and efficiently. Maintain quality control throughout the machining process. Monitor all machining operations to ensure parts meet customer specifications. Inspect and measure in-process and finished parts using precision measuring instruments. Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections. Operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously when assigned. Report equipment malfunctions or production concerns promptly to the direct supervisor. Follow all standard operating procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. Communicate effectively with team members across all shifts. Maintain accurate production records and documentation as required. Perform basic machine maintenance, including checking oil levels, coolant, and routine cleaning. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Detect and immediately report defective materials or questionable conditions to the VP of Operations. Complete additional duties assigned by management. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of CNC Operator experience , preferably operating CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs). Equivalent knowledge, skills, and demonstrated abilities may be considered. High School Diploma or GED required. Manufacturing or aerospace machining experience preferred. Ability to operate CNC turning equipment independently while maintaining quality standards. Required Skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, travelers, and technical documentation. Experience using precision measuring instruments, including calipers and other inspection tools.
Familiarity with:
CNC tool holders Cutting tools Fixtures Machine accessories Knowledge of basic machine maintenance procedures. Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and algebra. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Creative, flexible, and dependable work ethic. Equipment & Tools CNC Vertical Turning Lathes (VTLs) Hoists Hand trucks Material lifts Calipers and precision inspection equipment CNC tooling and fixtures Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Perform repetitive hand and arm movements. Manual dexterity required to safely operate CNC machinery and computer systems. Ability to respond quickly to alarms, machine sounds, and potential safety hazards. Adaptability to changing production priorities and work environments. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, including speaking, listening, reading, and understanding instructions.
