TK Marine and Fabrication builds aluminum marine components right here in Elkhart. We are hiring a CNC Setup Operator to run 3 axis vertical machining centers on a day shift, Monday through Friday, 5:30 am
- 4:00 pm. Expect 45-50 hours most weeks, with early outs when the schedule allows. This is a setup position, not a load-and-unload position. You will own your machines from raw material through first article, and we will pay you for that skill. Steady year-round work in a small shop where your input on tooling and process actually gets used. What you will do
- -Set up and operate 3 axis vertical machining centers, primarily on aluminum
- Build and load tooling, touch off, and set work and tool offsets
- Read and work from blueprints, CAD models, and setup sheets
- Inspect your own work with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, and thread gauges
- Make offset and feed/speed adjustments as tools wear
- Catch chatter, poor finish, chip evacuation problems, and tool wear before they turn into scrap.
- Build or modify simple workholding such as soft jaws, fixture plates, and stops
- Perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance including way lube, coolant, chip management, and filters
- Keep a clean, safe work area and hand off job status clearly to the next shift
