CNC Operator - Horizontal or Vertical | 2nd

Metro Detroit, MI Shift:

Shift Pay:
$23-$28/hour
Type:
Full-Time | Direct Hire A heavy manufacturing company in the Metro Detroit area is hiring CNC Operators for 2nd shift. The operation includes both horizontal and vertical CNC machining, so experience with either is relevant. This is not a basic load/unload position. Operators are expected to understand the machining process, work from blueprints, inspect their own parts, make basic offsets or adjustments, and recognize when tooling or machining conditions are causing a problem. Responsibilities Operate horizontal or vertical CNC machining centers Load parts, fixtures, and tooling Read blueprints and machining specifications Monitor machine operation and machining conditions Make basic offsets and machine adjustments Perform tool changes as required Inspect parts during and after machining Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring equipment Verify dimensions and quality requirements Identify worn tooling or machining issues Complete production and inspection documentation Perform basic machine cleaning and preventive maintenance Qualifications Previous CNC machining or CNC operator experience Experience with horizontal or vertical machining centers Ability to read blueprints Experience using micrometers, calipers, and gauges Comfortable making basic offsets and adjustments Good understanding of machining fundamentals Ability to recognize tooling, dimensional, or process problems Basic shop math and mechanical aptitude Ability to work 2nd shift and overtime as needed Preferred Experience Horizontal machining centers Vertical machining centers CNC milling Machine setup Tool changes and offsets Tight-tolerance machining Precision inspection Heavy manufacturing or metals You do not need to be a CNC programmer or advanced machinist. The key is having enough machining experience to understand what the machine is doing, check your own work, make basic adjustments, and catch problems before bad parts pile up.
