Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) Operator - 1st
Shift Location:
Metro Detroit, MI Shift:
1st
Shift Pay:
$25-$28/hour
Type:
Full-Time About the Role We are hiring an experienced VTL Operator with a solid machining background. This is not a basic machine-tending role. You should be comfortable reading blueprints, checking your own parts, making offsets, and recognizing tooling or machining issues. What You'll Do Set up and operate VTL / vertical turning equipment Perform turning, facing, boring, and related operations Read blueprints and machining specifications Make offsets and basic machine adjustments Monitor tooling, feeds, speeds, and machine performance Perform first-piece and in-process inspections Use micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other measuring tools Maintain quality, safety, and production standards What We're Looking For Previous CNC machining experience VTL or vertical turning experience strongly preferred Blueprint reading skills Experience with precision measuring tools Knowledge of tooling, offsets, feeds, and speeds Basic machine setup experience Strong mechanical aptitude and shop math Availability for 1st shift and overtime as needed Preferred VTL / vertical turning centers CNC lathe setup Boring and facing Tool changes and offsets Tight-tolerance machining Heavy manufacturing or metals
Pay:
